Notes:
An exceptional antique Persian Mohajeran Sarouk dating to approximately 1910, masterfully woven with a magnificent Tree of Life design. The luminous salmon-rose field provides a striking backdrop for an elegantly drawn flowering cypress rising gracefully from the base of the rug, symbolizing life, immortality, and spiritual renewal. The composition is framed by richly detailed midnight-blue borders filled with stylized palmettes, tulips, and scrolling vines, creating a harmonious balance between the field and border. Adding to its rarity is the woven Persian inscription (signature) at the top of the field. Such inscriptions were often commissioned for presentation pieces or special orders and frequently indicate that the rug was woven for a distinguished family, a prominent merchant, or an influential individual. These personalized inscriptions significantly enhance the rug's historical interest and collectibility. The rug is woven with exceptionally fine-quality wool on a cotton foundation, displaying a dense, precise weave and outstanding clarity of design. The soft, velvety wool, refined drawing, and beautifully balanced palette of salmon, deep indigo, ivory, sage green, and soft blue exemplify the finest production of the Mohajeran workshops.
