This is a beautiful antique Persian Mohajeran Sarouk rug, woven during the golden age of Sarouk production. The rug displays the elegant floral artistry and superb craftsmanship that have made Mohajeran Sarouks among the most desirable Persian rugs for collectors and decorators alike.
The field is covered with a luminous raspberry-red to rich rose-colored ground, creating a warm and inviting appearance. Unlike later Sarouks with heavy centralized medallions, this early Mohajeran example features an allover floral design with delicate palmettes, flowering vines, rosettes, and stylized blossoms gracefully dispersed throughout the field.
The deep navy-blue main border provides dramatic contrast and is filled with finely drawn floral motifs that frame the composition beautifully. The drawing is refined and balanced, showing the higher level of artistry associated with the best Mohajeran workshops.
The wool appears exceptionally soft and lustrous, a hallmark of fine Mohajeran Sarouks. The colors have mellowed beautifully with age while remaining vibrant and clear.
