This beautiful antique Persian Sarouk is a fine example of the elegant floral weaving tradition that made Sarouk rugs among the most sought-after Persian carpets of the early 20th century. The rug displays a richly detailed midnight-navy field centered by a graceful ivory and sky-blue medallion, surrounded by an abundance of finely drawn floral sprays, rosettes, palmettes, and scrolling vinery. The striking contrast between the dark field and the luminous medallion creates exceptional visual depth, while the soft palette of ivory, powder blue, rose, coral, gold, and light green lends the rug a refined and sophisticated character. The highly decorative border, filled with floral motifs and rosettes, beautifully frames the composition and enhances its overall balance. The quality of the weave, clarity of the drawing, and harmonious color palette are characteristic of the better Sarouk productions of this period. The wool possesses the soft, lustrous texture for which antique Sarouks are particularly admired.
