This is a beautiful and highly decorative antique Persian Heriz carpet woven during the early decades of the 20th century. The carpet displays the powerful geometric drawing and bold village character that have made antique Heriz carpets among the most sought-after Persian decorative carpets.
The design centers around a large, dramatic stepped medallion set upon a warm brick-red field. The medallion is surrounded by an intricate network of angular vines, palmettes, rosettes, and geometric floral motifs rendered in the distinctive architectural style characteristic of Heriz weaving.
One of the most attractive features of this carpet is its exceptional color palette. The rich red field is complemented by soft celadon and aqua-green highlights, ivory corner spandrels, and deep navy accents, creating outstanding visual balance and warmth. These colors have mellowed beautifully with age and give the carpet tremendous decorative appeal.
The broad navy border is beautifully drawn with large Herati-inspired rosettes and floral motifs, providing a strong frame for the dramatic central design. The crisp geometric drawing and spacious composition are hallmarks of the finest Heriz weaving tradition.
