Antique Yomud Turkoman Rug Fragment AS IS, 3' x 5'6"

An attractive antique Yomud Turkoman rug fragment featuring an all-over lattice of large hooked diamond medallions set against a rich madder-red field. The dramatic geometric composition is enhanced by deep indigo-blue motifs, ivory highlights, and numerous tribal symbols arranged in a highly rhythmic pattern. The wool displays excellent sheen and retains strong natural dyes, particularly the saturated madder red and dark indigo blue. The bold geometric drawing and powerful tribal character are hallmarks of the finest Yomud weaving traditions of the late nineteenth century. Although surviving as a fragment, the piece retains outstanding decorative appeal and serves as an excellent example of authentic Turkmen tribal weaving. The quality of the wool, the age, and the strong tribal drawing make it considerably more desirable than most decorative Turkoman fragments found on today's market. It is a genuine collector's tribal weaving rather than a later commercial production.
