Antique Handmade Art Deco Chinese Carpet, 8'8" x 11'4", c-1920, a cheerful cherry red and green color background with traditional floral design includes grapes which resemble the wing of the watch bird that looking over the vase of wealth, around the field is the beautiful light green color border with amazing design of vases and flowers. This carpet is in excellent condition, woven with fine and full and high pile of natural dyed wool. This wonderful Art Deco carpet was made in China, circa 1920s or 1910s. It has purchased from a nice home in New York. Walter Nichols was great American rug producer (the Art Deco rugs which he did not originate them) in Tientsin. The rugs made of wool and silk with bold vibrant colors and the pattern are pictorial scenes and trees, birds, clouds, mountains, dragons, butterfly and flowers. The production of Art Deco rugs started from 1910s-1950s and mostly with western influence.
