An exquisite antique Persian Kashan rug, handwoven around 1920 using the highly prized Manchester wool imported from England. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the finest Kashan workshops selected Manchester wool for its exceptional softness, strength, and luxurious sheen, producing some of the most elegant Persian rugs ever woven. This beautiful example features a luminous rose-pink field centered by an elegant sky-blue floral medallion surrounded by finely drawn arabesques, palmettes, and delicate flowering vines. The rich midnight-blue border, filled with scrolling floral motifs and beautifully balanced guard borders, frames the composition perfectly and creates a striking contrast with the vibrant field. The refined drawing, harmonious proportions, and graceful floral ornamentation are hallmarks of the finest Kashan weaving tradition. Woven with exceptionally fine Manchester wool on a cotton foundation, the rug displays a dense, precise weave and an incredibly soft, velvety pile with a distinctive silky luster. The natural dyes have aged beautifully over the past century, producing a rich palette of rose, sapphire blue, ivory, soft turquoise, and subtle accents of olive and burgundy that give the rug warmth and remarkable decorative appeal.
