Notes:
This elegant antique Oushak rug displays the refined simplicity and luminous palette that have made early Anatolian Oushaks among the most desirable decorative rugs in the market. The design features a spacious ivory field enclosed within an architectural mihrab-like cartouche, centered by a delicate floral medallion rendered in soft shades of rose, apricot, and pale gold.
The border is beautifully drawn with repeating stylized floral rosettes and geometric vine motifs, creating a harmonious frame around the open field. Particularly appealing is the unusually soft coloration, combining ivory, blush pink, salmon, warm apricot, pale saffron, and muted gold tones. The colors have mellowed naturally over more than a century, producing the gentle pastel effect highly prized by designers and collectors.
The weave is characteristic of quality village Oushak production, with lustrous wool and a relaxed, artistic drawing. Its narrow gallery size makes it suitable for an entryway, beside a bed, hallway, powder room, or as a decorative accent piece.
